Overselling is when you offer allowances in your web hosting plans that you could not provide if all of your customers wanted to use it. The most common example is disk space.
As a web host you may host 100 accounts offering each account 5 gigabytes of disk space. Your actual reseller account may only have a capacity of 50 gigabytes. So while you, the web host have offered (collectively) 500 gigabytes to your customers, you only have an allowance for a 10th that amount.
Overselling is harmless enough as very few customers will ever actually use their maximum allowance you have set. Just because a car can go 200 mph it doesn't mean people will drive it at 200 mph.
The same can be said for bandwidth as well.
Netmotivated does NOT oversell it's own services to customers and resellers hence why we do not offer unlimited disk space and unlimited bandwidth in any of our plans. Furthermore, we do not overpopulate our servers.
Please note: We do NOT permit resellers to offer unlimited disk space or unlimited bandwidth to their customers.
